Mini Sharks

TVWRA offers a pre-swim team program for those who may not be ready for the full Tiger Shark experience. This program offers more hands-on instruction with the coaches to help swimmers gain confidence to swim independently.

Mini Sharks is not swim lessons and it is not intended to teach your child how to swim.

To join Mini Sharks, your child must meet the following qualifications:

  • must be at least 5 years old
  • must be comfortable putting their head under water and blowing bubbles in the water
  • must demonstrate the ability to swim the width of the pool with basic freestyle skills (face in the water, arms over the water, and kicking) unassisted
  • must also display the ability to float/kick on your back

All participants must be supervised by an adult parent or guardian during Mini Sharks practice.

It is at the discretion of the coaches whether Mini Sharks is the appropriate placement for each swimmer. Mini Sharks is the bridge to the regular swim team and our goal is for your child to work towards participating in future swim meets.

If a swimmer is not ready for Mini Sharks, TVWRA offers options for private swim instruction, outside of the Tiger Sharks team.
